LM Studio
Desktop app for running open-source LLMs locally, now with Bionic, an agent for documents and code
LM Studio is a desktop app for downloading and running open large language models on your own computer. Its current version, LM Studio Bionic, adds an agent for documents, code, and automation, for people who want local AI that keeps their data on their machine.
Key features:
- Download the latest local LLMs inside the app and use them for chats or agentic tasks.
- Run models locally on the LM Studio runtime, which uses MLX and llama.cpp.
- Create and edit documents with the Bionic agent, with every change saved automatically.
- Hand off coding tasks, automations, and computer control to the agent.
- Talk to Bionic with real-time voice transcription that is processed locally and supports multiple languages.
- Connect up to five devices with LM Link.
The Free plan includes the Bionic agent, local models, offline voice transcription, and limited web search. Bionic+ costs $20/month and adds US-hosted open source models such as Kimi K3 and GLM 5.3 plus full web search, and Pro costs $100/month with five times the usage limits. Cloud services use zero data retention.
