Permute is a media converter for Mac from Charlie Monroe Software. Drop in video, audio, image, or PDF files, pick a format, and convert them one at a time or in bulk.

**Key features:**

- Convert between 100+ formats, including MP4, HEVC, ProRes, WebM, AV1, MP3, FLAC, HEIC, AVIF, and WebP.
- Trim, crop, resize, rotate, and change speed or volume, individually or in bulk.
- Merge files, split them by time, or extract audio, video, and subtitle tracks without re-encoding.
- Transcribe audio to text or SRT subtitles with on-device AI.
- Turn images into text with OCR, and text into spoken audio.
- Apply image filters and export PDF pages as images.

Permute 4 requires macOS 26 and Apple silicon, while Permute 3 covers macOS 11 to 15 and Intel Macs with a free upgrade later. A permanent license costs $14.99 directly or on the Mac App Store, where some features are limited by sandboxing, and allows three activations. It's also available through Setapp.
