Synology DiskStation DS224+ is a compact two-bay network-attached storage device for keeping files, photos, and backups on-site. It runs Synology's DiskStation Manager (DSM) and is reachable from desktop clients, mobile apps, or a browser.
Key features:
- Store, sync, and share files with Synology Drive, with versioning to roll back unwanted changes.
- Back up and organize photos and videos in Synology Photos.
- Back up computers, file servers, VMs, and SaaS apps with Active Backup Suite.
- Protect shared folders with snapshots as often as every five minutes on the Btrfs file system.

It has an Intel Celeron J4125 quad-core CPU, 2 GB of DDR4 memory expandable to 6 GB, two bays for 3.5-inch HDDs or 2.5-inch SSDs (sold separately), two 1GbE ports, and two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and draws about 15 W under full load. It comes with a two-year warranty.
